Fair
Highlights
An
Emerging Trade Event
For
the second consecutive year, Food Expo has
broadened its scope by launching a trade hall
adjacent to the ICMCM in Hall 2 of HKCEC. The
trade hall has drawn participation by 119
companies from 17 countries and regions around
the world, recording a remarkable 22.7% increase
from last year. During the first two days of the
fair, the trade hall was opened exclusively to
trade buyers so as to provide a platform for
traders of the food and beverage industry to
conduct business discussions. The hall was then
opened to the public during the remaining three
show days, which enabled the exhibitors to grasp
the most direct feedback for their products in
the Hong Kong market.
New
Element - Seminar
Apart
from being a marketplace for industry players to
meet and source, knowledge exchange is also
essential for a trade event to succeed. A
Seminar on "Strategy for Hong Kong Food
Industry Tapping into the Chinese Mainland
Market" - one of the new elements of this
year’s show – was organised on the second
trade day. Mr. Wong Ka Wo, Chairman of Hong Kong
Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades
and Chairman of the Kampery Group, shared his
experience in expanding his business into the
mainland for many years. In addition, two
procurement square seminars were conducted by
Dah Chong Hong Ltd, Guangzhou CC&D Holdings
Homecity Supermarket Chain Store Co Ltd These
seminars have provided valuable advice to the
local SMEs and stimulated market knowledge
interflow.
Excellent
service
Hong
Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has
always striven for the highest quality of
customer service. First time ever, a product
display zone was arranged inside the VIP lounge
of Food Expo. Some of the most representative
gourmet products were featured by more than 12
exhibitors of trade hall at the specially
designed area. VIP buyers, when resting or
conducting discussions in the prestigious
lounge, could browse at these products and enjoy
free business matching services with the
exhibitors. This service was well received since
it has added immense value and convenience to
the VIPs’ visit to the show.
Fun
Demonstrations and Performances
Every
year, the public visitors of Food Expo are
amused, if not amazed, by the various
entertainment stage programmes and
demonstrations at the Public Hall. In this show,
HKTDC, cooperated with leading brand names and
local media such as Metro Radio and Lisa
Magazine, scheduled more than 35 sessions of
fun programmes to entertain the food lovers. The
interactive activities and enticing giveaways
gave the participants a gratifying break from
their shopping journey.
An
Annual Carnival
For
more than a decade, the Food Expo has been an
annual highlight of summer events in town. Young
and old, friends and families, have been coming
with an exciting heart and leaving with a big
smile and of course heavy shopping bags. In
recent years, new elements such as the
concurrent ICMCM and Trade Hall have given you
more reasons to come. The 17 th Food Expo will
be staged at HKCEC from 17-21 August 2006. Mark
your diary – come and experience the exciting
journey yourself!
